SIN WEIGHS SO HEAVY

The weight of sin is so heavy that it can squeeze out life from an individual. Sin is never a property anyone can ever think to have anything to do with. Sin weighs more than the whole earth on someone’s head. The most deadly play in life is for one to mingle with sin. Yes, no one who plays with sin, ever lived a happy life. Sin hurts everything in the life of an individual. Sin is the reason people are going about doing all manner of evil.

Think about those arm robbers on the highway who risk their lives going about their fellow being to forcefully snatch their belongings and possessions, even lead some to their early grave. You see people going after their fellow being and butcher them as though they were animals for meal. Think of those prostitutes and many more. Sin has made some persons never to see their fellow being as though they are human. What a world! What an evil nature! What a demonic act! What a havoc that has caused in this world!

The most deadly play in life is for one to mingle with sin

It is the weight of sin that brought Jesus into the scene to lift such disastrous weight off man. Man cannot bear the weight of sin for long. Sin causes discomfort and restlessness. No peace for the sinner. That is what God says through prophet Isaiah,

“There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.” (Isaiah chapter 48 verses 22)

It means there is no peace on anyone who indulges in sin. There is no peace on anyone who is at the mercy of sin. Sin was ready to unleash its weight on an individual in a way the person will never have a reason to live. Yes, sin has what it takes to keep someone from discovering his or her true purpose in life. Sin has made some persons to pass through this earth without the earth feeling their impact.

Man cannot bear the weight of sin for long

Sin has stopped many from advancing in the true call of their life. Never you think or say your case is different. Your case cannot be different when you are still under the mercy of sin.

“The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” (Proverbs chapter 4 verses 19)

“His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.” (Proverbs chapter 5 verses 22)

22 – And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23 – And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24 – And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

25 – Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” (Mark chapter 14 verses 22 to 25)

It was on this night that the sin of man left man and was transferred to Jesus. The weight of the sin was so much that Jesus knew it was indeed too much for humanity to bear. The weight of sin is unexplainable. Sin is a lost business to the human race, it cannot profit a dime, yet can destroy everything if permitted.

Sin has stopped many from advancing in the true call of their life

For the first time in the ministry of Jesus He was able to recognise the weight of what man was carrying and found out it can actually squeeze life out of humanity.

“And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke chapter 22 verses 24)

It didn’t end here, the stripes Jesus took gushed out blood from Him while paying for our illnesses. The crown of thorns on His head gushed out blood for elimination of mankind suffering. Of course, on the cross He made the final purchase with His blood, with the evidence of the nails in His hands and His legs.

Conclusion

When Paul examined the cost of human sin looking first at the sin, he says, “For the wages of sin is death;” When he looked at the cross and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, he says, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans chapter 6 verses 23)
