It is a good friday indeed
Why should mankind be talking about good friday while man has messed up the human race the very moment he succumbed to the deception of the devil by yielding to the devil’s words and disobeyed the concept of God Almighty. That singular act brought so much reproach upon mankind. Every good moment God has designed for mankind was thrown to the mud at that very moment. Things actually fell apart because nothing good was to be at its place any more. It is only in God, man can find good things.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James chapter 1 verses 17)
Every good moment God has designed for mankind was thrown to the mud at that very moment
There was this good and perfect flow of God’s glory and presence man was experiencing when there was a perfect yielding and alignment with God Almighty. Man was the god of the earth, both at God’s ordination and functionality. What a privilege and honour that man was in full charge reflecting God’s glory as though he was the source of it. No other living creature had the impetus to carry and reflect God’s glory.
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psalm chapter 8 verses 4)
Man was the god of the earth, both at God’s ordination and functionality
The reason is this, that every thing about the spirit man and physical man was properly handled by God Almighty Himself. He created man in His image after His likeness. Glory! God actually deployed His complete best creating man. He created him in His character and in His functionality. That is the fullness of God in man.
26 – “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis chapter 1 verses 26 to 27)
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis chapter 2 verses 7)
The physical man was made the temple of God. It was designed that God and man are inseparable. But on the account of Genesis chapter 3 verses 6 to 10)
God actually deployed His complete best creating man
6 – And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 – And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 – And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 – And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 – And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
Sin took man away from the covering of God’s presence. It was sin that separated man from his Maker. Man began to run away from God, the One he needed most. Every thing at that moment turned upside down. Things became sour. Man who used to be at the mercy of God, now became a slave to sin under the mercy of the devil.
It was sin that separated man from his Maker.
That was terrible and horrible moment in the life of man. Man will wished that it never happened. Every thing about man started experiencing tumult, pains trauma, obscurity, limitations, reproach, sufferings and many more. Man started experiencing spiritual death. It was havoc on the part of man. Man thought on how to escape from all these but He could not help himself. God was far away from man because sin has encroached man. God cannot behold sin.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John chapter 3 verses 16)
God was far away from man because sin has encroached man
Good friday was a good friday to mankind. Jesus came in as substitute so that man can completely be liberated from the bandage of sin. The reproach that brought upon man by his disobedience to God Almighty.
14 – “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 – My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 – For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 – I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 – They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.” (Psalm chapter 22 verses 14 to 18)
Jesus came in as substitute so that man can completely be liberated from the bandage of sin
To Jesus it was never a good friday. To Jesus it was a friday of agony; it was a friday of pains; it was a friday of great sorrow; it was a horrible friday for Jesus. Yet He did it for us. It became a good friday, because Jesus took all our ugliness away. Jesus took upon Himself the sin He knew nothing about. Jesus paid the debt He did not owe. Jesus died in our place so that we can be free.
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”(John chapter 8 verses 36)
Jesus paid the ultimate prize on the cross when He said, “It is finished.” It was on this account Paul wrote to the church to Rome.
35 – “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 – As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 – Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 35 to 39)
Conclusion
