8 ways to keep your lamp burning
1. You must be connected to your source:
16 – “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 – And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” (2Corinthians chapter 5 verses 16 to 18)
2. You must abide to your source:
4 – “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 – I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 – If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John chapter 15 verses 4 to 6)
3. You must have a prayer life:
29 – “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 – Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah chapter 40 verses 29 to 31)
4. You must have a study life:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 15)
5. You must not forsake the gathering of the brethren:
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews chapter 10 verses 25)
6. You must constantly acknowledge the Person of the Holy Spirit:
“The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. (John chapter 14 verses 26 MSB)
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 11)
7. You must keep the right company:
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs chapter 27 verses 17)
8. You must be the doer of the word:
22 – “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 – For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 – For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” (James chapter 1 verses 22 to 24)
