5 keys to overcome pride
- Recognize and accept you have pride.
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs chapter 16 verses 18)
“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (James chapter 4 verses 6)
- Stop seeing yourself higher and superior than others.
“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” (Mathew chapter 23 verses 12)
- See whatever success you have acquire as a privilege, not self effort.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1Corinthians chapter 15 verses 10)
- Stop to always see your opinion as the best. Give room for people to criticize your opinion.
1 – “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 – Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.” (Romans chapter 15 verses 1 to 2)
- Always show gratitude. Be humble to those around you, and always appreciate their efforts.
“He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.” (Romans chapter 14 verses 6)
“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:” (2Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 13)
Conclusion:
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Corinthians chapter 9 verses 27)
No matter how God is taking you to accomplish so much on the course of your purpose and fulfilling destiny, may you still remain small in God’s eye.
