3 TYPES OF DEATH JESUS DIED
1 – If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 – Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 – Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 – Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 – Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 – But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 – And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 – That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 – And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians chapter 2 verses 1 to 11)
- Death to self will:
41 – “And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42 – Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke chapter 22 verses 41 to 42)
Jesus took upon Himself the form of a servant.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John chapter 15 verses 13)
- Death to position:
“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 – Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 – Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 – Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 – Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
12 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 – And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John chapter 14 verses 7 to 13)
Left His position, gave up His life, and made Himself of no reputation.
- Death of His nature:
He gave it all for humanity.
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” (John chapter 19 verses 30)
